Irises are perennial rhizome plants which belong to the family Iridaceae...They were named after the Ancient Greece goodness Irida who went down to the Earth by a rainbow, in Greek iris means the rainbow. Hyppokrates, the Greek doctor gave this name to the flower about the IV century BC.
